Paris December 3 Berlin refuses to sign the allied peace protocol delaying effect of the treaty. Baron von Leisner informed Secretary Dutasta that Germany will not consent. Observers say a transformed German attitude follows US Senate failure to ratify the treaty. Germans push for trials of officers and demand indemnity for sinking the American steamer Flow. No sign of changed stance yet from Berlin. The note protests the increase of armament in violation of the treaty.

Pope, a 13 year old from Boston, arrested by Springfield officers after escaping a Palmer officer. He was arraigned today on larceny from a restaurant and confessed to stealing two automatic pistols. He said he left West Newton to reclaim a motor bicycle. Held for trial.
New York December 3. City Comptroller Charles J. Crag declared in contempt of court for disregarding an injunction. The injunction protected approximately 81,000,000 in corporate bonds. Crag was cited by Justice Manning in the Brooklyn common pleas court after a member of a grem union obtained the injunction.
In London the government spokesman Andrew Bonar Law told the House of Commons that Premier Lloyd George gave no pledge to the American delegates at the peace conference regarding Irish self government. He warned that if the conference did not address the issue, Britain would settle Home Rule after the treaty’s signature.
The American delegation to the peace conference, including most of the ministers, will sail for the United States from Frost next week. The question of whether any delegates stay to continue participation rests with the State Department in Washington.

Baltimore December 3. Fire swept two Canton Lumber Company wharves at Canton suburb. Governor Mebane and five other vessels burned, four ships damaged, and about a score of harrow scrapes. Crew leaped to safety. several sailors died or later succumbed to exposure. United States steamers and yard craft sustained damage while all vessels lay at Spedden's shipyards nearby.
A blaze in Chelsea Massachusetts destroyed three large nurseries in a wooden-area building drawing families into the streets. Fire department units fought the flames as high winds spread sparks to nearby tenements. One structure was extinguished and crews sought aid from surrounding towns.

In North Tray, Dew, a man named Mace Colburn mishandled a loaded rifle in a store with a customer present. The weapon discharged, striking Jay Hunter in the shoulder and causing a knee or leg injury. The rifle had been dry and jostled, but no serious harm was confirmed.

Westerly December 3 Coast guards manned by Captain W. S. Tripp and crew rescued the crews of barges Rita Howard and Peter Howard after a gale blew them off the coast. They rode 17 miles offshore to reach the distressed vessels in heavy seas and cold. The Neponset towed two other barges earlier but engine trouble delayed assistance. The rescued included the Peter Howard wife and Captain Herbert Robinson and George Butler aboard Rita Howard. The night saw the barges M. J. Howard and Nathering Howard drifted together.
The body of William Charles Jr was returned from Florida to Quincy for funeral rites after he died at a Florida port. A cerebral hemorrhage due to meningitis was cited as the cause. Charles, 25, a U S Navy officer and former student at Kwading High, was praised for his rapid ascent and regarded as a gentleman by many friends and colleagues.
Mrs Caroline Olgiatti died today from heart trouble after an illness lasting over a year. Born in Bleona Usiin, July in 67 years ago, she was daughter of Jo and Jeanie Comalli of Bena Vetria. Survived by three children Mrs J Cale cami, Mrs Angelo Piraxenro, and Orlando Comalli. Funeral arrangements not yet set.
A private funeral was held yesterday afternoon for Dr. W C Goodrich who died Saturday at his home on Washington Street. Rev Foxy Gondeperd officiated as numerous floral tributes praised the physician. Pallbearers included Charles Bigelow Dr A Wy Winch Al Gr Bigelow Walter Gow and J P Chamberlain. Burial was in Mowwied Cemetery.
