Miss Marbury Finds Mercy as Marble Heart Melts
Miss Marbury visits the Poor House to comfort a dying stranger named Cornelia, once her friend Clara, who wronged her in marriage. Cornelia begs forgiveness, and Miss Marbury dissolves her own cold reserve, offering care for the dying woman and her child. The act frees Miss Marbury from resentment as a new tenderness blooms in her heart.
