Large Fire in Thomaston Destroys Depot and Homes
A Tuesday blaze in Thomaston destroyed the Macon and Birmingham depot with cotton, two residences, and several other houses. Insurance covered the depot for 4000 dollars. other buildings were uninsured. Fire companies aided, crowd evacuated safely, and a rail incident disrupting a train carrying voters was investigated.
