The Gordon Institute Cadets travel to Griffin Friday for a two day encampment. Barnesville residents anticipate a strong Prohibition Convention presence with delegates from Atlanta and expect Rev. Sam Jones to attend. The community praises local merchants and declares Barnesville the best town in the state with Gordon Institute as the South’s top school while inviting visitors.
Rain shortened parts of the Gogganaville Sunday School picnic but a large turnout enjoyed music and activities. Attendees rode the Thomaston train in two trips, sheltering briefly at noon before the afternoon cleared and the group returned home around 5 30 p m aboard Conductor Hammond's train.
The Middle Georgia Institute at Concord holds closing exercises starting Sunday May 27 with Rev. E Culpepper of Jonesboro delivering the Commencement sermon in the chapel. Entertainments follow Monday and Tuesday nights. Prof A A Rose of Stinson speaks Tuesday night. Prof K A Stephens of Barnesville has led the term, praised by patrons and pupils.
The popular comedy Deacon will be staged Friday before Commencement on June 15 by the Glee Club with Ametiers of Barnesville. Rehearsals are underway and the production aims to raise funds for a public library. Charlie Tyler stars as the funny man with strong local talent supporting him. attendees are urged to attend.
An advertisement claims Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription restores strength and cures female ailments with a vegetable, non alcoholic tonic. It promises money back if no benefit and urges proceeds through druggists nationwide.
