Fire alarm system shows fast response in town
The article notes a Saturday night fire at Dr. W A Wright's with a small blaze fought by Mr A Morris using a garden hose. The new telephone alarm system proved effective as Dr Wright's call reached Central quickly and the bell rang within about a minute. Death on moving train claims W. P. McDowell in Acworth
News from Barnesville reports the sudden death of W. P. McDowell of Acworth Georgia when he fell from a moving passenger train near Marietta at 5 am. He was about fifty, had recently left hotel work, and was a respected Baptist church member with ties to Pike county. Funeral services were held in Acworth.

Irvin Fined For Street Fight In Local Incident
A.C. Irvin and R. A. Thrower clashed in a street quarrel Saturday. Irvin was fined $5 or ten days on the streets, cited as the aggressor, while Thrower faced no stated penalty.
