Mrs Frank Askins of Monroe county made a large worsted quilt named for Georgia governor Atkinson. Blind stitched and padded with eighty stitches per square, the sixty two year old craftsman worked each stitch herself using one needle. She is urged to send the quilt to the Atlanta exposition.

At about sixty years old he was a prominent and highly esteemed citizen, a Methodist, with a large country home and substantial property.
