Five New Residences Planned In Barnesville

Tuesday J C Collier purchased the Shockley lot on Zebulon street and will construct four cottage homes. W T Respess of Upson County seeks bids for a two story dwelling on the old Respess and adjoining lots between Reyer Holmes and the Respess house, to be built this summer. Both projects signal a thriving local building wave and expected good returns.

Winter's Tale Shakespearean Club Meeting Program

The Shakespearean Club meets at Miss Kate Huff's residence on Saturday April 24 at 4 PM. The program features guitar and mandolin music by Mrs J M Cochrane and Miss Iane Murphey, papers on Hermione, Paulina, Leontes, and the play's origin, plus a discussion with six guiding questions.

Musical Recital by Gordon Institute Under Mrs. Cochrane’s Direction

The Gordon Institute music department presented a notable recital at Kennedy’s Opera House last Friday. Miss Nep Ferrell delighted with harp solos. Miss M Kathryn Lockhart recited Patsy. ensembles and soloists performed Schubert, Holst, Brida Betts, Mendelssohn, and Bennett pieces. The audience praised the program, calling it the finest entertainment of its kind from the department.

Death of Mr Rosser Adams in Eatonton

A young man, Rosser Adams of Eatonton and Gordon Institute alum, died at his father's home after a brief illness. Known in Eatonton and Barnesville for his many friends and high esteem, his passing is mourned widely.

Collier's Opening Brightens Barnesville Store Scene

Barnesville residents crowded the J. C. Collier Co. millinery opening last Wednesday night. Invitations promised an 8 15 start, Veal's orchestra played as shoppers toured department displays. The event drew praise for the enterprising firm, one of Georgia's largest leaders.

Dr Ripley Relocates Practice to Barnesville

Dr. E. C. Ripley, formerly practicing in The Rock, has rented the Burr home on Thomaston Street and moved his family to Barnesville. A young, respected physician, he believes Barnesville offers a better field and expects a cordial welcome from locals.
