A local resident reportedly has $60 per car offered for his entire watermelon crop.
Invitations issued for the marriage of E Walker Wright and Mittie Middlebrooks at the Methodist church in Barnesville on Wednesday April 17 at 8 o clock. Wright a respected druggist and son of Dr W A Wright. Middlebrooks described as a popular and highly esteemed young lady. The Gazette offers congratulations in advance.
Dr Price’s Cream Baking Powder claims the World’s Fair top prize in pastry and cooking innovation. The award highlights quality, purity, and consistent leavening performance recognized by juries and industry judges.
President Pound secures speakers for Gordon Institute commencement. Dr. Warren A. Candler president of Emory College will deliver the sermon. Col. C. A. Turner of Macon will give the Junior address. Barnesville anticipates the visit of these two distinguished gentlemen.
Dr. A J Battle president of Shorter College at Rome Ga writes that Shorter College will admit Gordon Institute girls on certificate without examination. He offers two scholarships for 1895 96 one to the top graduating student and another to any deserving girl recommended by President Pound.
In a Monday trial before Judge M. W. Beck, Obe Nelson was found guilty of gambling and fined $60 while co-defendants Ulyses Warren Green Mabry and Charlie Collins pled guilty and received $50 fines each.
