Bank Street moves to Morningside Heights housing displacement debate
The Bank Street College plans to consolidate its operations on 112th Street between Broadway and Riverside Drive by 1970, prompting eviction of 130 residents and demolition of two buildings. Critics compare this to Columbia University expansion, weighing the college’s educational ideals against local displacement and community involvement.
