Barnard College students publish a weekly bulletin during the academic year noting campus events and notices. The edition serves as a public record of student activities and college life.
The document lists editors and staff for the year including Eugenia Ketterlinus assistant editor in chief and managing editors Hildegarde Diechmann and Elsie Oschrin. It also names associate editors Sophie Amson Florence Barber Fifi Carr Berenice Despres Lucy Karr Edith Lowenstein and Dorothy Teall with class years shown. Advertisement notes a one year subscription with advance mailing price. It records second class matter status and entry date October 21 1908 at the New York post office under the act of March 3 1897. The notice confirms postal classification and legal filing.
Address all communications to Barnard College at Columbia University located at Broadway and 119th Street, New York. This formal instruction specifies where correspondence should be directed. It remains the official mailing address for inquiries, submissions, and notices.
The Bulletin ends its final regular issue for 1916 17 with thanks to undergraduates alumnae and faculty for their support. An extra Commencement issue will follow after commencement and be mailed to subscribers as the retiring staff bids farewell and wishes a growing readership in 1917 18.
Letter to the editor condemns unequal seating at a Columbia demonstration honoring French and British commissions. The writer notes the long walk to reach the library steps, complains that Trustees and faculty dominated viewing space, and claims Barnard undergraduates were left with only a fleeting view of the hero, Bernard Undergraduate.
College students must file a separate absence or lateness list for every course by noon May 21 1917. If illness caused an absence and a doctor’s certificate is pending, attach it to the list. Blank forms available May 17 9:00 a.m. at Barnard College Registrar.
A schedule outlines exams and events from Monday May 21 to Thursday June 7. Activities include Senior Play at Milbank Quadrangle, Baccalaureate Service in University Gym, Senior Dance at Earl Hall, Class Day and Ivy Chiong events in Milbank Quadrangle, Commencement at University Gym, Trustees' Luncheon at Brooks, and Senior Banquet at Brinckerhoff Theatre with times ranging from 1.00 to 10.30.
A 1920 election at Wigs and Cues named Felice Jarecky Gertrude Fricke Helen Slicks Aline McMahon Marion Hausman Lillian Sternberg to committees and listed 1919 and 1918 members. The board approved that future applications must be filed anew each year to ensure real interest and avoid conflicts with acting roles. Giapys L. Patter chaired Membership.
The Juniors treated the Seniors to a campus social on Friday featuring ice cream and cones. Dot Keck performed an aesthetic dance and Isabel Greenbaum delivered a Mortarboard monologue.
