Student Discount For Kazan Play J.B. Announced

Elia Kazan's production of Archibald MacLeish's J.B. will offer a student discount through the Student Activities Office. Orchestra seats priced at 690 will be available for 345 to students and teachers amid special interest from pupils and staff.

Barnard Archer Joan Brown Wins Intercollegiate Title

Joan Brown, a Barnard College senior and chair of the Barnard Archery Committee, placed first in a field of 263 entrants at the Intercollegiate Archery Tournament. Barnard entered seven teams. the top team finished second in a 46-team field. The event was sponsored by the American Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation Division for Girls and Women.

Mahler closes series of Barnard Columbia art lectures

Professor Jane Gaston Mahler wraps the Barnard Columbia lecture series titled The Wide Horizon. She argues modern art seeks universal symbols beyond Christian Hindu or Greek traditions, linking color, rhythm, and abstraction to Asia and the West. She notes Eastern thought as a guide to Western ideas and compares Kandinsky, Indian, Japanese, Chinese traditions, and Picasso amid modernism.
