Ford links socialism and Catholicism at Barnard club
Father Ford of Columbia argues socialism and Catholicism are not wholly incompatible in the American context. He cites Leo XII's radical proposal as historically extreme but contends modern American socialism softened on property and class war. He notes Norman Thomas’s socialism as compatible with Christian faith and previews a symposium with Thomas and Ryan at Columbia and Barnard.
