District 65 ratifies 2 year contract with Barnard College

District 65 members vote in December 3 1976 meeting to approve a two year contract with Barnard College effective July 1 1976. The agreement raises wages 5.75 percent for first year with January 1977 0.25 percent bump, increases hiring minimums, adds TIAA pension, and raises security plan contributions to 8.5 percent. Second year from July 1 1977 to June 30 1978 features a 5 percent wage rise and $2.50 weekly minimums increase. September 1 1977 introduces a tuition plan for eligible employees with 18 credits allowed. Contract drafted by Margaret Loweawaits final signing by Lowe and Ellen Harper within days.

McCall's Magazine conducts a campus survey among Barnard College freshman and senior women to learn where they expect to be in ten years and what they expect to be doing, with results to be published in a future issue.

Women’s Collective Meeting for Barnard Center Students

An open meeting for students interested in forming a women’s collective will be held 8 30 p m Monday January 31 at 417 Riverside Drive Apt 10A near 114th Street. The group would function as a Barnard Women’s Center branch and may seek additional space for a drop in center. Students unable to attend may sign up at the Women’s Center.

The Barnard Crafts Co-op begins its third semester with courses in basketry crocheting calligraphy palmistry weaving and quiltmaking among others. Open to Barnard and Columbia students faculty staff and alumni registration is in the College Activities Office 206 McIntosh.

Health Trainees Pre professional paid traineeships at Devereux

Traineeship program offered by the Devereux Foundation in Philadelphia provides pre professional paid positions in mental health. Trainees act as role models and participate in seminars, case conferences, counseling, crisis intervention, and report writing. Applicants must live in, own a car, be unmarried, and type well. Urban Fellows Program Seeks NYC Students for 1977 78

The New York City Urban Fellows Program invites eligible students to join a weekly seminar for academic credit in city government. A $4000 stipend, travel funds, and a $500 college grant are offered. Applications require transcripts and recommendations. Deadline February 15, 1977.
