Barnard Undergraduate Association Election Success Congratulated

Elections Next Bulletin congratulates Barnard College for the first all college nominating assembly. Fourth Murder by Players Shows Good Direction and Acting

Patricia Weenelsen reviews Columbia University Players annual staging of T. S. Eliot’s Murder in the Cathedral at St. Paul’s Chapel. Preston Munter’s direction creates simulated action through tonal contrasts among chorus, choir, and soloists. Roger Boxill as Becket delivers dignified diction, while the chorus and costumes by Gloria Wyeth and Milton Levine, plus lighting by Denioce Goubert and music by Richard Chodash, heighten tension and atmosphere. Tickets sold out. early arrival advised for next year.

Bobby Dawson the Focus editor earns life mag experience

Barbara Dawson known as Bobby, Barnard student editor of Focus, already worked three years at Life magazine and summers, plus a Gibbs secretarial year. She toured rooms of departments, interviewed housing experts in Washington, and argues secretarial skills unlock publishing. She plans to hunt publishing jobs after graduation while Focus faces ad and material shortfalls.

Varied Works Shown At Faculty Art Exhibit

Columbia University hosts its second annual faculty art show featuring sculpture, paintings, cartoons, and models by over a hundred professors and families. Highlights include Dwight D. Eisenhower's grandson David two year old, works by Eugenio Florit, and a nine year old Michael Albright with a snow scene.

275 Year Old Drama Given for First Time

Restoration comedy Mariage a la Mode from 1674 by John Dryden is being staged by Wigs and Cues Columbia Players and Barnard Restoration Drama class with Professor Lucyle Hook arranging. Three performances March 2 3 and 4 in Brinckerhoff Theater feature John Ott directing and acting Palamede with Adolphus Sweet James Hall Sam Kaplan Robert La Guardia and Barnard cast members Carroll Ann Brown Holly Bradford Sally Hester Rita Kaufman Maureen McCann Ann Phillips and Nancy Jane Price among others.
