Junior Prom at Hotel Pierre produces big turnout

The Junior Prom of the Class of 1938 was held in the Hotel Pierre grand ballroom last Friday. About 100 couples attended with Art Paulson and his orchestra providing music until 3 AM. Ruth Inscho chaired the event, with Elspeth Davies as president of the Junior Class.

Rehearsals Set For Junior Show Schedule Released

The Junior Show rehearsals run Tuesday to Friday at Brinkerhoff Theatre with multiple groups including Jungle Bells Chorus and College Swing. Soloists rehearse by appointment with Carol Rothschild and all cast members must attend. contact Evelyn Lichtenberg for absences.

Seniors Hold Tea for Science Faculty Event

The second Senior Class Tea to the Faculty was held last Friday from four to five thirty in the College Parlor. Senior science majors escorted guests from Botany Chemistry Zoology Physics Geology and Psychology. Amy Schaeffer and Helen Butler greeted attendees while Betty Maciver Mary Louise Kelley and Frances Henderson served pours.

Big Profit From Faculty Follies

The Faculty Follies on February 12 and 13 earned about 1000 dollars for the Fiftieth Anniversary Fund. Items from many donors, including Miss Annie H Meyer, Mrs Seals of Vermont, Dr Reichardt and the Steinway piano from Long Island, were used in the production. The show featured a Brummbass drum, a car from the Physical Education Department, and other period pieces. Four generations of stage managers and additional donations supported the event.

Barnard Delegation Joins National Youth Pilgrimage

A Barnard contingent joined four thousand youth delegates in Washington for the American Youth Act push. Delegates met President Roosevelt, addressed Congress, and presented petitions. The bill seeks 500 million dollars for public works for ages 16 to 25, plus scholarships and guidance programs.

Sophomore Dance Planned at Casa Italiana

The Sophomore class of 1939 will host a closed dance at Casa Italiana next Saturday from nine to one with Brook Lewis and his Westchester Favorites. Invitations include Miss Mabel Foote Weeks and Dean Virginia Gildersleeve. attendance may open to non seniors if enough sophomores sign up. Tickets are $2.25 and on sale all next week.

Eleanor Levison says the student fellowship fund has reached $687. She notes the freshman class has been slow to respond despite contributing the largest amount last semester. Organizers hope to reach $1,000 with full Barnard student participation.

Students to Vote on New Officers This Week

Ballots will be cast Thursday and Friday February 25 and 26 from ten to four at Barnard Hall center table. Candidates include Elspeth Davies and Edna Jones for Undergraduate President with Sofia Simmonds declining. Davies holds multiple campus roles and Jones serves on Mortarboard and Stafff committees.
