The February 1 issue reports Miss Spencer resigning from the editorial staff of the Bulletin. Miss Curtis is elected business manager, and Miss Dorrian is named associate editor. Students may apply to Miss Curtis for assistant manager positions.
Dean Russell of Teachers College spoke to Barnard students in the theatre on Thursday February 13. He highlighted two motives for women to teach: pay and service, stressing the dignity of service and urging exploration of roles in elementary work such as domestic science and kindergarten to relieve secondary school overcrowding.
The Barnard Freshman basketball team faces Emanon of Mt. Vernon at the Mt. Vernon Armory on Tuesday February 18 at 2 30. The College team departs on the 105 train for Mt. Vernon.
Barnard College will send a delegation to the fourth International Convention of the Student Volunteer Movement for Foreign Missions in Toronto from February 20 to March 2. Delegates include Miss Oliver Dutcher and several Barnard students, with expenses funded by the Church Students' Missionary Association. The program features speakers, missionary discussions, sectional work conferences in Asia and Africa, interviews, and exhibits.
Senior selections include Elizabeth Allen on the History of the Calculus and Katharine Armstrong on Government to Colonial Maryland. Other topics cover design, literature, chemistry, mathematics, and colonial history reflecting varied academic interests.
The Bryn Mawr College Alumna Association has gathered 103,664 dollars in two months to secure the conditional Rockefeller gift. Funds include 33,064 dollars from alumni, 60,000 dollars from the college president, and 10,000 dollars from resident undergraduates. At a recent meeting the association by laws were amended to admit non-degree former students as associate members.
The annual election of the Christian Association will occur in the second week of March. A two thirds quorum is required for the vote.
Ralph Shaiwald Sr present ed the University with a valuable Arctic flora collection gathered during the Baldwin Ziegler expedition last summer. Much of the specimens come from near Camp Flera.
