The Philosophy Department sponsors the ninth Hi Fi concert Monday December 13 at 8 30 p m in the Gertrude Rich Room 29 Milbank. The program includes Haydn Quartet for Strings in D and Beethoven Ninth Symphony conducted by Arturo Toscanini. The prior concert showcased Vaughan Williams Norfolk Rhapsody Mozart String Quintet in D minor Beethoven Violin Concerto and Copland El Salon Mexico.
The Columbia University Concert Band opens its winter and spring concert season. Barnard College students may join for the year by submitting their names at the Band Office, 113 Low Library, on Tuesday or Wednesday at 4 00 p.m. this week.
The gym department held a December 8 tournament with twelve players in six groups. Anne Davidson and Alicia LeVine were named winners. Marjorie Holt Rhinda Malla and Mary Ellen Bowles Janet Kabak tied for second. other participants included Cynthia Halsey Sondra Miller Elizabeth Cater Doris Kievelevich Harlene Freedman Celia Wolk.
Barnard College alumna and trustee Mrs Frank Altshul donated 10985 to redecorate Brooks Hall Living Room Music Room and Beau Parlors. Four sofas one love seat twenty six chairs and custom drapes were provided with new upholstery blinds and paint. Nine thousand six hundred ninety six dollars used so far with remainder for slip covers.
