Watercolor and oil paintings by eight young Sudanese artists are displayed in Barnard College’s James Room marking the first African artist exhibit there. The works, loaned by the Harmon Foundation and once shown at the Sudanese Pavilion of the World's Fair, mix abstraction with Sudanese subject matter. Prof. Julius Held selected the pieces after tracing them from the Fair, noting the exhibition expands Barnard’s prior focus beyond American and European art.
