Barnard College’s Founding and Early Halls Heritage
Barnard College, New York City's oldest women's college, chartered in 1889, honors founder Bernard and Columbia ties. Early buildings included Milbank Brinckerhoff and Fiske Halls, with Fiske Hall originally a dormitory later Brooks Hall funded by Mrs. A. A. Anderson. Ella Weed led the college's administration before 1894, with later deans and Barnard’s integration into Columbia University.

Barnard Land Fund Sells Square Feet for College Drive
Barnard College seeks to repay a $255,000 loan by selling 32 366 square feet of Riverside Drive to Claremont Avenue land in February 1936. The drive to raise funds split land into inside street corner and curb lots priced at 15 to 25 dollars per square foot. So far 16 516 square feet have been sold with 15 850 square feet still available.

The Campus Carnival opens this afternoon at 3 00 P M in the gymnasium to mark the Fiftieth Anniversary Fund drive. Walter Hampden attends as booths, games, raffles and auctions attract undergraduates and alumni. Admission tickets cost 10 cents with door prizes and a fashion show entry. Concerts by Barnard College and Rutgers Glee Clubs and a D O Y L Y Carte tea are planned.
