The University of Southern California plans a Greek festival for May 1 with Grecian games chariot races and plays followed by a Greek Ball. The event echoes Barnard's Greek Games and celebration traditions in a campus setting.
Seven western colleges launched the National Student Federation of America on January 1 at the University of California. The group aims to unite American colleges with foreign students, to promote study abroad, scholarships, travel, and international friendship. It already includes about 50 000 students from UC Berkeley UC Washington Utah Mills Oakland Pomona and plans to expand eastward.
Williams College adopts a new cut system tying permissible cuts to prior semester grades. An A or B allows five cuts, a C three cuts, a D two cuts, and an F one cut in the following term.
Beginning on April 14 an Open challenge tennis tournament will be held. Entered players will be approximately graded and may challenge anyone in the four places ahead. Rankings for singles and doubles will be posted in the Students' corridor. Faculty have been invited to enter.
Representative Assembly elections for next year were announced on Friday April 3. The new members listed include Gertrude Braun Cora Du Bois Virginia Lee Eleanor Rich Elizabeth Patterson Renee Fulton Margery Meyers Sylvia Surut Helen Robinson among others.
The Jean Willard Tatlock Memorial Prize in Latin exam will be led on Saturday April 18 from 1 30 to 4 30 in Room 330 Barnard College. It consists of translation at sight from Latin to English and is open to all Barnard undergraduates. Candidates should sign up with Professor Hirst or Miss Goodale.
The Gloucester School of the Little Theatre in Gloucester Massachusetts offers two free undergraduate scholarships for its sixth summer season in July and August 1925. The program features performances and courses in public speaking pantomime acting stage direction lighting scenery and playwriting with a faculty including Florence Evans Florence Cunningham Mellor Robert Henderson Colin Clements and others. Communications should be sent to Miss Florence Cunningham at 112 Charles St Boston Massachusetts.
The Student Council approved Wigs and Cues rehearsals from 3 to 6 pm since coach Mr. Hare is unavailable in evenings. A time limit on rehearsals was proposed to protect seniors and avoid class cuts. Edith Blumberg was elected editor for next year by the Bulletin staff and new officers will be installed on Tuesday April 14. The Representative Assembly members will be invited to participate this year.
Miss Gildersleeve hosted a tea for Miss Theodora Bosquanet secretary of the International Federation of University Women. Bosquanet attends the federation convention and will tour several American colleges. She earlier served as secretary to Henry James and wrote Henry James at Work.
Margaret Hatfield has been chosen by the Student Council to represent Barnard at a conference of the National League of Women Voters to be held in Richmond Virginia on April 12.
A Monday luncheon under Alice ham hosted professors Le Duc Hubbard Haller Robb Weeks Young and guests Mr don and Mr Peebles. The event aimed to connect faculty with students and foster discussion about campus life.
