Ropes Addresses Russia Split in World Economy Debate
Ernest C. Ropes, chief of the Russian section of the Department of Commerce, spoke to Barnard students and faculty in Brooks Hall on the Russia Soviet Union clash of economic systems. He argued cooperation of socialist and liberal elements may form amalgamations, citing cooperatives, proximity, and barter as key factors shaping foreign relations. Using Iran as an illustration, Ropes warned agrarian revolutions could push reforms without Soviet union linkage.
