Baraboo and Madison high schools staged a joint two city debate about Philippine independence with Baraboo affirming the question at Baraboo and Madison negating at Madison. All six judges favored Baraboo giving them a unanimous win.

Booze Bondage: Fairfield Worker Paid Fine and Departed

Declamatory Contest Winners Advance From Reedsburg
Harriet Mead a junior won first place and Anna Fieber a sophomore took second at the interclass declamatory contest held at the Reedsburg high school. Both advance to the district contest in Lodi.

Mrs. John Roach of Merrimack became ill with acute appendicitis and underwent immediate operation in Baraboo. Mrs. J C Payne left the Baraboo hospital after nearly two weeks for nervous trouble treatment. Mrs. Simon Thaerer, after a serious operation at Reedsburg hospital, is improving. a forehead incision removed a live nerve with a laparotomy by Dr. Dorne of Milwaukee. Mrs. J Wood of Ironton, long at Reedsburg hospital for nervous trouble, is beginning to improve. she is related to Mrs. Henry Pobjoy and Ed Organ of Baraboo.

The Odd Fellows lodge celebrated the order's founding anniversary with about a hundred guests including Rebekahs and wives. E. G. Marriott spoke on Odd Fellowship in England, drawing on his homeland. The evening ended with dancing to The Twentieth Century Orchestra and refreshments.

Popular couple wed in Fairfield in quiet ceremony
About thirty five guests witnessed the marriage of John B. Ziegler son of Mr and Mrs August Ziegler to Miss Seba Mae Lusby at the bride's parents home in Fairfield. Rev E O Coontz performed the ceremony with a ring service. The bride wore white crepe de chine with lace and carried roses and smilax. The dining room and parlor were decorated in pink white and white bells. Mrs Lottie Miller catered. The couple will live on a farm in Fairfield. Mr and Mrs Otto Ziegler of Tomah attended.

Woman Lost 76 Dollars To Stock Trick Near Baraboo
Mrs Lulu Pittelkow reported giving 76 dollars to a man who promised to buy stock but instead passed the money to another man and fled toward the Ringling circus en route to St Louis. She returned home later believing she would recover the funds.

Esteemed Spring Green Lady Dies Sudden in Illinois
Mrs. William N. Cork of Spring Green, 55, died suddenly while visiting her sister in Bloomington Illinois. Though in poor health she passed away unexpectedly. She was a general favorite with a large circle of friends. She leaves a husband and four children.

Reedsburg Folk Hold Reception for Leaving Minister
A farewell reception honored Rev. and Mrs. Schaller at the St. Peters Lutheran parish in the Reedsburg Armory. Attendees came from Loganville Ableman LaValle and Sandusky. The Schallers depart for Mankato Minnesota where he becomes field secretary of a young ladies' seminary. The congregation hires Rev Kansier of Wauwatosa to become pastor, likely starting mid May. Kansier and his wife previously led the Children's Home at that city.

Bloody Angle at Spottsylvania remembered by a Civil War veteran
A veteran recalls the May 12 1864 fighting at the Bloody Angle near Spottsylvania Court House. He describes heavy casualties on a small acre and recalls finding relics fifty two years later.
