United Spanish War Veterans Hold Open Encampment Session
The twenty second annual United Spanish War Veterans encampment opened in Gollmar hall with Mayor Adolph Andre giving the welcome. Delegates heard from Department Commander Guy M. Dublin and other officers. the event included a key ceremony, a dance, and a lengthy guest list from Milwaukee Oshkosh Baraboo and beyond. The Friday parade featured the Baraboo Marine Band and Indians in war regalia with dances at Elkington and Gollmar halls.

Sun Struck Road Worker Harry Getchman Dies in Baraboo
Harry Getchman twenty three, truck driver on county roads, died at Baraboo hospital from sun stroke after a trip on a new road near Fairfield. He collapsed on return to gravel pit, unconscious en route, taken home to North Freedom, funeral at his father's house then Baptist church with Rev. Bibelheimer officiating.

Dedicating the Prairie du Sac Free Bridge

How Gored by Bull Leaves Hair Red
James R. Spadden of Spring Garden near Pittsburg Pa was gored by a bull while crossing a field. The bull’s owner drove the animal away with a pitchfork as Spadden grew exhausted. Forty eight hours later red hairs appeared among his black hair and the two colors became nearly equal.

Boy Dewey Drowns First River Victim This Year
Archie Dewey of Hatch Grove drowned in the Wisconsin river near Bridgeport, the first fatal river incident reported this year.

Charles Newman received the calf prize at the Guernsey picnic held on the L. M. Wichern farm. The Bank of Baraboo funded the gift. Speeches by J. E. Stollard of the American Guernsey Cattle Club T. B. Towle of Excelsior Creamery and S. A. Pelton Sauk County Agricultural Society. President Hockmuth led the event. music by Mrs. Joe Harris and the Templin Wichern Koppke quartet. Ice cream and a large turnout capped a successful day despite heat.
