Judge E Ray Stevens presided as Edwin Keitel and others contest Teel farm sale to A J Zantow claiming misrepresentation of acres and land value. Cases include insurance verdict, county auto wreck suit, quieting title, paras parole of teen, and a long list of new U S citizens.
Facing treasury depletion the Pana Illinois women’s clubs revoke a sworn promise of 10 cents paid per 100 flies killed within city limits. The campaign began May 24 and yielded 256000 dead flies with $252.05 paid. Several cases were continued and one dismissed for wartime conduct. eligibility may resume after five years.
The Baraboo High School annual senior banquet was held Thursday evening at the Morris hotel in Delton. Over sixty attendees including seniors and instructors enjoyed a banquet, program, and dance with Rodwell orchestra providing music. Speakers included Robert Thomas and Robert Holmes, with toasts and performances by Miss Susie Schaefer and the male quartet.
Senators La Follette of Wisconsin and Norris of Nebraska urged American recognition of Irish independence. The senate foreign relations committee in Washington decided to hear the authors in executive session.
Census figures announced in Washington show that 39,131 persons aged 10 years and over in Arizona could not write English or any other language.
Wisconsin lawmakers vote 46 to 34 in Madison on a judiciary bill extending jury service, contract rights, and right of residence to women. The assembly action now forces a potential senate reversal to finalize equal rights for the enfranchised sex.
Regular Baaboo city council meeting chaired by Mayor Adolph Andro discussed park use of Barker property in Moore and Brown addition for a tourist camp with grading water and electrical service planned. Thomas Burton awarded cement work. Tarviax and crushed rock orders placed. Walnut street sewer and a thirty inch gutter from Walnut to Lake planned.
Wisconsin lawmakers urge state purchase of the Dells scenic river section. The joint committee says the project would repay the state within ten years and that the Southern Wisconsin Power Company holds the key, seeking 70 000 dollars for land including the big island. Kilbourn residents invite officials to view the area as a park prospect. The proposal now heads to the finance committee for review.
A flag pole was raised at Barabool Junior High with exercises by teachers and pupils. The flag and colors were donated by the Auxiliary to the Sons of Veterans, with remarks by Supt Kingsford and board member J W D Stanley. Diplomas were presented to 1920 summer graduates and 1921 eighth-grade completers, with several veterans in attendance.
Bernard Bergerson of Portage, a former Poynette resident and tobacco warehouse worker, was arrested in La Crosse and returned to Portage on a wife desertion and child abandonment charge. He had shortened his name to Berger and deserted his wife and five children about a year ago. He is brother-in-law to Mrs. Martin Brekke of Lewiston. Preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, in Justice F. W. Kiefer's court.

Delegates visited Devils Lake this afternoon.
Henry Kelly Linberger a 17 year old paroled inmate from the Industrial School for Boys at Waukesha will be sent back to complete his commitment term until age 21. He was arrested near Independence Trempealeau County on burglary charges involving the Oneida hotel pool room and Cushings Grocery and is suspected in other robberies. He has been residing in Portage with his mother Alice Linberger.
At an adjourned Portage school board meeting, Prof. A. J. Henkel of Lodi schools was chosen as city superintendent and Portage high school principal for three years. His prior roles include Par-deeville principal and long service with Lodi schools.
Pupils of St Joseph's School held a picnic at Devils Lake with teachers and parents then gathered for closing exercises. Mass, school auditorium program, and songs followed. promotion cards were issued and eighth grade diplomas awarded to Loretto Foley Elinor Meade and Gilbert Peterson.
Professor William Kiekhofer of the University of Wisconsin addressed Baraboo High School graduates at the Al Ringling theatre on what a troubled world faces. He outlined four causes—hunger, industrial upset, financial strain, and ongoing war—plus proposed remedies like restoring prices, paying debts, and returning to work.
