On Memorial Day a civic ceremony gathered at the cemetery and First M. E. church. G A R members Daughters of Veterans Red Cross Boy Scouts and others participated. Rev L C Ferguson of Trinity Episcopal delivered a patriotic address urging democracy over autocracy and praising American unity.

Drafted men claiming conscientious objection and found sincere by army authorities will be segregated at Fort Leavenworth Kansas under Secretary Baker's order. Those deemed sincere by a special board will be furloughed to work on farms at private pay.

Young Man Loses Foot Near Devils Lake
William V. Morgenstern, 20, of Chicago, on a geology trip from the University of Chicago, jumped from a train near Devils Lake Friday. His left foot was crushed and amputated after arrival at Baraboo hospital. he remains badly bruised but cheerful. Father J W Morgenstern notified and soon arrived.

Banquet honors high school seniors at Warren Hotel
The annual class banquet was held Friday at seven in the Warren hotel. Thomas W. McMahon served as toastmaster, with class statistics by Clara A. Brownrigg and De Etta Monetta Weirich. Vera Lucile Tinkham and Lydia Genske offered toasts, Mildred Weiland played violin, and Lester Charles Ruhland toasted the teachers. Short talks by Miss Isabelle Gamble, George Winchester, and Mr. Iverson announced nonreturning staff. A. C. Kingsford gave a talk. Afterward, dancers moved to the high school gym for several hours of dancing.
