Norman F. Van Dyke of Kilbourn was chosen by the Columbia County Republican Conference as their state senate candidate, defeating incumbent George Staudemeyer who recently switched from the Democratic to the Republican party. Van Dyke won all but six of fifty three votes present. W R Turner of Columbus will lead a fifteen member committee to endorse a district congressional candidate.

Wheel of Truck Injures Limb in Loganville
On Wednesday evening in Loganville a heavy truck loaded with road material ran over Harry Ward's leg. The front wheel, weighing at least two tons, did not break bones though it caused injuries. Ward, seated on a fender, slipped forward as the vehicle stopped near the boarding house and was treated on site with County Highway Commissioner John Gunnison attending.
