Two Companions Escape Drowning Tragedy Near Middleton
Russell Habermann, son of Mr and Mrs Jos Habermann of Prairie du Lac, drowned in the Wisconsin river near Middleton on the Sauk county side after stepping from a sand bar while three boys bathed. Ralph and Theodore Curtis survived and kept silent about the accident for hours. The body was recovered Friday and funeral held Saturday.

Mounted Gavalat Heads Toward Sparta
The Third Squadron of the Fifteenth United States Cavalry left Baraboo after a camp near town. About 250 men, 258 horses, 68 mules and 138 transport wagons move toward Sparta daily, with no stops until Fort Sheridan. Adelbert Stewart visited Baraboo relatives during the stay.

Insane Woman Leaps From Train Near Madison
Mrs. Sophia Graf, en route from New York City to Two Harbors Minnesota, leaped from a Chicago and North Western passenger train at Madison yesterday morning. She survived unharmed, was declared insane, and taken to Mendota asylum. Before jumping she pulled a pillow slip over her four-year-old son’s head, but passengers stopped any harm to the child. The boy remained with a Madison family.

Sunday School Picnic Brings City Faithful To Devils Lake
The annual Sun day school picnic drew 500 participants from city churches to Devils Lake State Park. A parade from First M. E. to a special train, noon dinner at Kirkland, and afternoon races highlighted the event. The Congregational and First M. E. Sunday schools split a 9 to 2 game, and the New York Giants beat the Chicago club 5 to 4.
