Child Killed by Auto Truck in Rochester
A Baraboo family learns their daughter Syleen Le J Lennon was fatally struck by a city truck in Rochester Minnesota while crossing Broadway with her mother. The driver Claude Wright testified he did not see the child until it was in front of the vehicle. An inquest was ordered by County Corner Dr J E Crewe. The Lennons and Mahoneys then returned to Vermillion for burial.

Lake Wisconsin a great bass fishing spot today
Portage fishermen Wayne Jessup and Arnold Schultz reported a prime bass haul on Lake Wisconsin south of Portage. In under two hours they landed thirteen black bass averaging three pounds, with four fish at four pounds each, plus a six pound channel catfish and two large pickerel. They encountered a school of dogfish minnows and used artificial bait to attract the bass.

Memorial Park Debate Fails in Senate Over Lakeside Memorial

Gates at Locks to Be Rebuilt at Fort Winnebago
The government steamer Fox returned to Green Bay from Portage as the dredge Omro continues work at the Fort Winnebago lock entrance. Four new gates will be built this winter, employing many men. A barge of timbers has arrived at Portage, with materials including 10 by 12 inch planks up to 18 to 22 feet long. Government carpenters finished repairing the waste gates at the lock last week.

Post Office Moves After Fifty Years On Main Street
Postmaster F. H. Metcalf and staff moved the post office to a Main and Park streets corner building. The remodeled facility includes a private postmaster room, cement vault and updated fixtures. Moving began Saturday night and Sunday to open July 1. The old office opened after the Civil War with money orders issued since 1869.

Drowsy driving on Bronson avenue near the Miller residence sent D. M. Hart of Ontario Wisconsin and two companions in a new factory fresh Mitchell car into a ditch six feet below the road.
