North Freedom Soldier Dies in France October 25
Herman Koenecke of North Freedom learned his son died in France on October 25. The family only received the news Sunday after a long inquiry at Washington. The son had previously written that he had gone over the top three times.

Powers Celebrate Golden Wedding in Salt Lake City
John H Powers and wife celebrated their fiftieth anniversary informally at home in East Mill Creek Utah. They were married in Baraboo Wisconsin on December 27 1868 by Rev Frederick May Holland. The couple lived in Wisconsin until 1901 and later moved to Salt Lake City where Powers owns the Republic early in their marriage and both are active in local clubs and veterans groups.
