The Bara boo Valley Poultry association held its annual banquet at the G A R hall with 100+ attendees. Speakers covered poultry profits, fox ranching, and industry growth while awards honored best displays and birds from Baraboo area exhibitors.

Dane county highway committee will recommend buying five or six cooking and sleeping wagons for road construction gangs. Each wagon costs about 200 dollars and they compare with Sauk county outfits. Children’s Party a Great Success at K P Hall

A Wednesday afternoon children’s party for A N A members drew about 150 guests with music dancing games and Christmas songs. A large tree sat with candy sacks as treats were handed out ice cream cake and candy followed. In the evening Royal Neighbors elected officers led by Oracle Allie Barrett and Manager Helen Berg for three years.

The Unfortunate Gator Was It the Dog

A Madisonian recalls a siding incident where a cat fell into a barrel of soft soap to escape a pursuing dog. The dog reached the barrel as the cat resurfaced and both animals swallowed soap, ending with peace restored.

Death Claims Mrs Emma Wetzel Former Portage Resident

Mrs Emma Wetzel born November 12 1886 in Portage died at a La Crosse Sanitorium on Christmas night after arriving that day for relief. Daughter of the late Gustav Manthey she married Rudolph Wetzel May 17 last moving to Fort Atkinson. Survived by husband two sisters Mrs Herman Kleist Mrs August Herman and three brothers Fred George and Walter.

Over 200 Teachers Pensioned as State Fund Reports

The state has 211 teachers drawing annuities from the teachers' retirement fund with an average yearly pension of 362.76 dollars. Since inception 221 certificates issued, many returned to teaching or died. Fund resources total 430,413.07 dollars, with 411,413.07 invested in bonds at 4.56 percent.

Word has been received from Rev Albion E Smith and his wife formerly of Madison now at Colon. They left New York December 12 and after visiting the Panama Canal will travel to San Jose Costa Rica for the winter. They are well known in Sauk county.

Power Plant At Capitol Costs 17347 For Year

It has cost $17,347.94 to operate the state power plant at Madison since the first of the year, according to M. F. Blumenfeldt, superintendent of public property. The power plant furnishes power for the electric plant of the capitol and runs the elevators.
