Raid at Prairie du Sac nets two arrests and beer destruction
Sheriff's raid on a West Point labor camp near the Prairie du Sac dam disrupted Christmas festivities as officers seized eighty cases of beer and many gallons of fish bait. Two men, Mike Milsch and Matt Niebkovic, admitted guilt and paid fines of 90.50 each. Beer was ordered destroyed at Lodi while laborers, many foreign born from southern Europe, observed roast pig feasts at the camp.

Former resident dies after lingering illness in Adams
August Steffen died at his daughter Mrs H Koenecke's home in Adams after a cancer of the stomach. Born in Germany in 1847, he came to the U S in 1867 and settled in Hartford Wisconsin. He married Lena Enning in 1871. she died about twenty years ago. He leaves a daughter and two sons Fred Steffen Adams and George Steffen near Reedsburg. Remains taken to home of George Steffen for burial Saturday. burial in Sandusky Cemetery with Rev Jordan officiating.

Hunters Observe A Grey Wolf In Excelsior
Arthur Hulbert and Paul Stockman while rabbit hunting in Excelsior sight a large grey wolf. The animal bolted as their dog charged it, seen clearly by the hunters who wished they had rifles rather than shotguns.

Youth Uses Hands Freely in Baraboo Assault Case
Harry Tabor of Prairie du Sac pleaded guilty to assault and battery after striking Miss Marsin Hathaway at a dance in Effinger park. He was fined 5 dollars with costs totaling 14 dollars 24 cents. Hathaway had worked at the New Warren in Baraboo.

Holiday Wequing Ends In Madison Union

Hotel Fire Destroys Adams Structure Near Depot
A two story hotel near the Adams depot and a small launch room building were destroyed by fire. The Tadlansh room was run by Earl Hillicker and the logs were covered by insurance. The hotel was a total loss and wind aided containment. The blaze created considerable excitement in the village.

Wick Pleads Guilty to Assault and Battery

Shale Shoots White Owl Near Baraboo
William Shale shot a large white owl on the Haseltine property about three miles southwest of Baraboo on Wednesday. The bird is a fine specimen and Shale plans to have it stuffed. White owls of this species are very rare in this country.

Fire on Wednesday Damages Hill Farm Barn and Hay Stack
An improvised local fire department of over 100 neighbors fought a large blaze at Arthur Hill’s farm north of Merrimack on Wednesday. The old barn and a connecting straw stack were demolished but livestock and grain were saved. Fire threatened a new barn and house but was contained.

Runaway injures two men on state road near Loganville
On an evening trip from Reedsburg to Loganville William Schenkat was tipped from his wagon, breaking two ribs as his horses tangled in a wire fence. He was hospitalized. Nearby resident Mr. Schwartz of Loganville also had a runaway, was thrown, and badly cut on the face requiring Milwaukee eye care.

Death by Delton claims Ira Wilber after strokes
Ira Wilber died in Delton after a series of strokes. He suffered his first stroke in February and never recovered. The final stroke occurred Monday evening, leaving him about 75 years old.
