A fifty foot Norway spruce from the C. R. Tuttle farm has been chosen for Baraboo’s Christmas display. The tree, planted in 1860 by Merritt Tuttle, Sr., stood on the farm for nearly sixty years and will be moved next week to the courthouse park for electrical decoration. F. J. Warrell will supervise the operation to safeguard the boughs during relocation and decoration.

Soldier Grove man passes counterfeit coins in Boscobel
W Purrington, 61, of Soldiers Grove, attempted to pass counterfeit dollars in Boscobel last week. He made eight dollars from silver and tin foil, learned the craft from a former resident now in California, and was caught after two bills passed. He claimed theft of a mold and said he had long sought to try minting. He awaits trial in Lancaster on $1,000 bond. this being his first offense and his age may lessen punishment.
