Emil Lainio, shot during the 1918 raid on the Krueger home in Clark county, awarded $6,000 by a Stevens Point circuit court jury. Lainio sought $20,000 and testified he fired nine times. Ennis Krueger was shot in the raid. Frank and Leslie Krueger are serving life for the killing of Soo Line operator Harry Jennings.

Deer herd sighting during Montana trip described
Mr and Mrs Frank L Williams of Portage returned from a 30 day trip to Missoula Montana where they stayed with his brother Guy W Williams. They reported spring like weather in Missoula and 10 below zero in St Paul. Williams said he saw as many as fifty deer in one herd and he shot a 200 pound buck. On the way home they visited Ray Williams in St Paul.

Widow of former Governor Scofield dies in Green Bay
Agnes Potter Scofield, 68, widow of ex Governor Edward Scofield, died at Green Bay after a short illness. Born January 14, 1850 in Clarion Pennsylvania she moved to Oconto in 1868 and married Scofield, then a lumberman. She served as mistress of the executive mansion from 1897 to 1901 and is survived by her son George Scofield of Milwaukee and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Oconto.
