Thieves seize mail pouch with $100000 from Chicago post office
Thieves grabbed a registered mail sack from a boy in Chicago on Friday, taking about $100000 in cash destined for payrolls at Pullman banks. The pouch, loaded with twenties, tens, and fives, was tossed from an Illinois Central train at Kennington Street station and loaded into a waiting car. A 13 year old boy initially pulled the pouch before an older man helped steal it, driving away in a car. The funds were to be used to cash checks for Pullman Company and Sherwin-Williams. The theft occurred without violence or guards being overpowered.
