Captains Shaw and Powell Visit Montana Friends En Route Home
Captain Amos Shaw and John D. Powell of Livingston Montana visited Mr. and Mrs. H C Noyes on West Washington avenue while returning from Washington D C with business tied to the Shaw and Powell Camping company. Powell, Baraboo native, and Shaw, Michigan born, have run Yellowstone Park tours for seventeen years drawing about fourteen hundred visitors last year. They secured new concessions from the interior secretary in Washington to enhance trips. Powell is related to Mrs H C Noyes and to several Madison residents.

The Baraboo Base Ball club held its annual meeting to reorganize. John Falvey resigned as manager. E T Ross became manager with T M Mould secretary treasurer and B N Robinson official score keeper. Falvey elected to manage on field. The team will be renamed Baraboo Red Sox and all positions are open. A benefit dance is planned to open the season.

This Little Deer Finds Fast Friends After Gunshot
A two year old doe, chased by dogs and wounded, was rescued from fence wires near the Bishop farm in Dekorra by Dr. Wheeler of Poynette. The leg fracture resulted from a gunshot, and Game Warden Cleasby investigated. The deer regained trust after care and was moved to Poynette for recovery. Deer are protected by law in Columbia County.

The Wisconsin Assembly rejected brewer ownership of saloons and licenses by 53 to 44. A $25,000 appropriation was approved to finish the Sauk and Columbia county levee.
