The Cole Brothers circus assets sold at Corry Pennsylvania drew buyers led by John and Alf T Ringling with bids on tents, wagons, cages, and horses. Ringling Bros acquired several horses including Blanch Dora and Lady, plus two tigers and other stock. Net proceeds totaled about 43000 dollars with a 12000 dollar profit.

Old Sauk County Settler Peter Kindschi Dies at 91
Peter Kindschi died at his Prairie du Sac home at 5:00 a m after a yearlong illness of heart disease and dropsy. Born in Davos Switzerland in June 1834 he came to the United States in 1847 and settled in Sauk County about 60 years ago. He built brick structures in Baraboo and nearby cities and leaves a wife, several children including J P Kindschi and I Kindschi, sisters and brothers, 12 grandchildren, and a funeral service Monday at 9:00 a m at the Evangelical church in Prairie du Sac.

Strange Find in Big Creek Hemlock in Coughlin Valley
Louis Jackson cut a 75 foot tall hemlock near LaValle and found a rat trap embedded 46 feet from the trunk. The tree’s hollow body had grown around the chain, forcing him to remove the trap with an axe. The item is traced to Puebla Community, South New House, New York, with no idea how long it lay or who placed it.

Wisconsin's First Scandinavian Governor James O Davidson
James O Davidson, born February 10 1854 in Soga Norway, became Wisconsin's first Scandinavian governor. He arrived in 1872 settling in Madison. He worked as farm laborer tailor and clerk before running a Soldiers Grove mercantile store. Davidson served twenty years in public office including Soldier Grove president, state representative, state treasurer 1899–1903 and lieutenant governor 1903 until his 1906 governorship following La Follette's resignation, then won renomination and reelection.

The funeral for Rev. A. A. Roberts took place at 2 30 p m Thursday at C C Pratt’s Quarry street home. Rev. Gilmore of Madison Unitarian church officiated with singing by Henry Koppke and Chas Thompson. Pallbearers were Fred Nehs Henry Potter N F Sherman James Farnworth Bruce Fleming and Gilbert Robson all Odd Fellows. Only distant relative present was Kirk Roberts son of the deceased from Aberdeen South Dakota. Cemetery services were by the Odd Fellows.

Engine No. 1774 driven by Engineer Daniel Mulcahy exploded near Okauchee. Fireman August Gutknecht Conductor Herman Zodtner and Brakeman Eichorn were badly burned. Mulcahy stopped the train saved colleagues and - all three injured men are expected to recover.

House Burned on M. J. Hasson Farm at Maple Hill
A dwelling on the M. J. Hasson farm near Maple Hill burned completely at 7:30 this morning. Furniture and clothing were destroyed, with about 300 dollars insured. The Hassons were away. children stayed in the house before neighbors arrived. The family is staying with Matt Hanley, as reported by the North Freedom Journal.
