Tragedy as Steam Engine Overturns in Franklin
John Ruhland aged forty was scalded and crushed to death when a steam engine and boiler mounted on bob sleighs overturned near a gate while being moved to his property. His ribs were crushed and he died several hours after the accident. He was survived by his wife.

Longtime Chicago & North Western Engineer Dies in Illinois
Andrew Slyfield of Galena Illinois died recently and was buried at Oak Hill cemetery in Janesville. He served as locomotive engineer on the Chicago & North Western for forty years and was deemed the oldest railroad man in the northwest for service. He came west over fifty years ago and enlisted in the war. As an engineer he never suffered an injury or a wreck with his train, and he was never in a railroad accident of any kind.

Train collision injures eleven near Fond du Lac
A North Western passenger train rear ended a freight train ten miles northeast of Fond du Lac Wednesday night.
