Ludwig Voll aged nearly 82 died at six this morning at his son Herman Voll’s home in Baraboo. He was born in Germany and lived 32 years in Baraboo town. He leaves another son Louis in Barron county. A German M. E. Church member since 1877, his funeral is set for Monday at 1 PM at the house, with Rev. Jos Meck of Baraboo officiating.

Trapper Survives icy plunge to reach safety in Chapman's Lake
A sixteen year old cousin near Baraboo, Wisconsin, fell through thin ice on Chapman's Lake while trapping muskrats. He fought to reach shore, broke ice with a hatchet, crawled to a muskrat house, and endured days of rheumatism after the near fatal incident. The tale is recounted by Guy O. Glazier with note of the hatchet kept as a memento at H. H. Porter’s home in Fairfield, Sauk County.
