Injuries Struck by Passing Engine in Chicago Yard Incident
In Chicago and Northwestern yards Conductor Cone and Brakeman Gominskey suffered serious injuries after stepping from a train and being struck by an engine on the adjacent track. Both men, who have visited Baraboo before, were taken to hospital with the conductor more gravely hurt. Another report recalls a Milwaukee road engineer enduring a madman fireman on No 3 between Milwaukee and Green Bay, who Melbourne-like danger was contained.

Bank robbery attempt foiled at Mount Algre in Frederick
Frederick Maryland December 8 an attempt to rob the Mount Algre bank failed when the iron safe was blown but the burglars fled before reaching the inner door containing the money and securities. Ten men were arrested with twelve more later taken into custody including Edward Parker of Baraboo Wisconsin and Rob Tinney of Hurley Wisconsin. A Milwaukee message said Frank Parker of Baraboo was arrested on knowledge of the robbery though Baraboo records show no such man. The Parker name ties to Pittsville Wisconsin where a Frank Parker eloped with another man’s wife years ago. No confirmation that the Williams Parker arrested is the same man. An uncle A B Parker resides in Baraboo.

Farmer Sees Arm Severed in Shredding Accident
James Costigan drove five and a half miles to a surgeon with his arm severed above the elbow after feeding a corn shredder. In Racine county three farmers lost hands and a fourth lost two fingers this week. Victims include John Mider Rudolph Buckholt Peter Jensen and Theodore Swartz.

Deaths of Thomas Howland and Anna M. Hohn
Thomas Howland a longtime Reedsburg resident died suddenly of apoplexy this morning leaving a wife and son Frank in the local lumber business. Anna M. Hohn aged 84 died early today of valvular heart disease at her Fifth avenue rooms. The funeral for Howland will be Friday at 2 PM at the Evangelical church. John Hohn and two daughters traveled from Chicago last night.
