First National Bank of Plevna Moves to Baker
The First National Bank of Plevna has moved its operations to Baker and opened in the old First National Bank building. Thos. Forde will handle local accounts during the transition, with a move expected in a few days. Bank officials applied to name it Baker National Bank, awaiting final papers and approval. This creates two banks in Baker and maintains one bank in each of the other two county towns to evenly serve the territory.

Leavitt Bill May Pass Congress Aims at Homestead Adjustments
Washington January 7 Congress is near approval of Scott Leavitt’s bill to adjust section 16 entries for Garfield county land claims. The measure fixes past inaccuracies in entry papers and sets a six month window from patent or bill passage for applications to raise holdings to specified totals. Plevna Youth Severely Burned in Kitchen Fire
Albert Hepperle, brother of Karl Hepperle of Plevna, suffered severe burns to face and hands when gasoline used to start a kitchen stove ignited. His nephew Arthur started the fire, Albert entered the kitchen, and he aided in extinguishing it. Dr Blakemore of Baker treated him.

Popular Young Plevna Couple Wed in Local Ceremony
Carl Rabe and Miss Dena Hoenke, both of Plevna, wed recently at Plevna with Rev Father Richards officiating. Attendants were John Koenig and his sister Miss Hoenke. The ceremony followed by a wedding dinner at Mrs Stto Leischner's home. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs A J Hoenke, is well known. the groom, son of Mr and Mrs Wm Babe, plans to settle on the A Drews farm he purchased. Mrs Elizabeth Hand of Eau Claire arrived by train No 17 to be with family before the end of the period.

Armory Fire at Co I 163rd Infantry Causes Heavy Loss
Gas leak ignited in the basement of the armory used by Co I 163rd infantry. Capt Hughard and Lieut Kuss entered to shut gas. fire spread, firemen from Baker volunteers responded rapidly, more than two hundred citizens aided in saving the building. Loss estimated at 3000 to 5000 dollars. extensive gear and supplies damaged.

Dohrman Health Tragedy Ends in Patemonia at Baker
William Edward Dohrman, 49, longtime local druggist, died at his Baker home in the Lake theater building after a several day illness described as patemonia. He left a wife Ella, two children Stanley and Mrs. W J Nance, and was buried in Eau Claire with services in Miles City and Chippewa Falls. Dohrman previously ran Baker Drug after moving from Miles City, and his funeral included regulars from Miles City and surrounding towns.
