Legislature adopts report in Oliver contest for Fallon county seat

The privileges and elections committee adopted without dissent its report on the contest between Martin Flasted and John Oliver for the Montana state senate seat from Fallon county. The committee found no merit in the contest and recommended Oliver be seated as the duly qualified state senator.

Fallon County Bar Organized in Baker Montana

Friday night gathering at the Montana Cafe marked the formal start of Fallon County Bar Association. L A Conser was elected president with Raymond Shelden vice president and W A Goble secretary treasurer. an executive and by law committee were named. The townsite selection and details for the new town site tied to Phillip Reid’s 105 acres plus adjoining land were discussed amid other historic notes on land claims and road planning.

Government statisticians report higher beef cattle mild cows and swine counts than a year earlier. Beef cattle up 3.4 percent to 1,212,000 more. swine up 9.6 percent to 64.6 million. horses up 1.1 percent with 233,000 more on farms.

Chamber of Commerce Elects Officers and Plans

The Chamber of Commerce elected officers at its annual meeting with a strong turnout. A committee was appointed to plan a monthly market day and another to study a uniform practical calendar to save costs on calendars and advertising. Officers named include President L A Conservice, Vice Presidents L Price and Gseo M Daugherty, Secretary R S Hamilton, and Treasurer L P Chuning. The next meeting on February 18 will review these committees and discuss a farmers equity store.

Literary Society Sees Sickness Dampen Program

A Congregational church literary and debating meeting faced disruption due to illnesses at home. Officers were elected with C Bunn as president and S B Copeland as a key organizer. The event also noted church activities, new members, and a realignment of local civic roles.

Bridger Bank Closed as President Disappears in Montana

Bridger Montana State Bank of Bridger with 104000 in deposits, mostly savings, closed by State Bank Examiner H S Magraw. President W H Hough has not been seen since last Tuesday in Billings. Einsel Elected State Representative From Fallon County

Charles K. Einsel editor of a Pimele Montana paper was elected state representative. He traveled 821 miles over 72 hours at a cost of 97.65 to claim the seat and will receive 82.10 from the state. Evening church program follows morning services at 10 30 with Sunday school at 11 30 and choir practice at 2 o'clock.
