Plans move quickly to observe Defense Day on September 12. A five member Falcon County committee will organize community gatherings to inventory national strength and inspire readiness among citizens and volunteers aged 18 to 45 to serve for one day.
Citizens sign to join the Defense Test on September 12 1924. They affirm constitutionally guided national defense and urge inclusion of all citizens in a defense body rather than a large standing army. The note lists organizers and a pledge to enroll for that day only.
On election night Baker residents chased returns as the Baker Sentinel provided rapid, continuous results from its office. The paper stayed open late and received praise for timely coverage and free services to candidates and supporters.

Delegates from Baker attended the grand lodge of the Masons and Eastern Star in Great Falls. They reported excellent sessions with entertainment for sight seeing trips and dances provided by Great Falls residents. A2 oS Jusselyn Granada senator of the OES and Mrs Margaret Mirton of Malta were noted for leadership roles during the convention.
T B Hatch, formerly of Liker and now living at Casper Wyoming, arrived Monday to visit his brother Bert Hitch, an early Baker resident. While in town he is reconnecting with old friends and many others called at the Baker Sentinel on Wednesday.

Thomas James Seargeant a long time Baker resident died at Holy Rosary hospital Miles City after treatment for high blood pressure and arteriosclerosis. Funeral was held at Congregational church under Old Bellows Lodge and burial at Bonnie Vale. He was born in Ontario in 1892 and lived in Michigan Dakota and Montana before moving to Baker ten years ago. He is survived by his widow and six children including Thos J Seargeant of Miles City and John N Seargeant of Minneapolis.
Miss Jeanette Price hosted a small Saturday evening gathering at her home for friends from Chicago. A four course dinner was served, followed by dancing at Wildwood, with guests including Miss Margaret Mohr and others enjoying hospitality and cards.
