Jail Delivery Escapes Four Inmates From Decatuur Jail
Four white men escaped from Decatuur jail after sawing bars in the women’s iron cell. John Franklin charged with assault to murder a bailiff. Tom Burroughs, an Florida escapee. Mack McCoy from Grady County. John Harper of Grady County for wife beating. They fled toward Alabama via the Chattahoochee River, using a blanket rope and a dog kennel. The steel cell holding 27 prisoners remained intact.
