Haunted bicycle tale of three mile rides after midnight
Georg Springwell, a Lombard Street clerk, reports his secondhand bicycle is haunted. Each night after midnight the cyclometer records exactly three more miles and he experiences a ghostly ride with cold air, unseen hands guiding the wheel, and a phantom behind him. He reached Buffalo, rode home, and was forced to stop when a ghostly force knocked him from the bike. The dealer recalls the bike was bought from a seller who feared it was stolen and left it unclaimed.
