The mayor notes a severe financial panic yet reports the city’s credit remains strong with only minor local failures. Taxation stands at four dollars per thousand, water works are extensive and free, the Pohle Air Lift System provides abundant artesian water, streets are repaired, and no fires occurred in the year. He commends volunteer firemen and urges enclosing the cemetery with an iron fence when finances allow.
