Disastrous Fire Destroys Home of Capt Vititoe at Jakin
Tuesday night at Jakin Capt Vititoe commander of the Convict Camp woke to find his home and contents in flames. He and his wife and four children escaped. The blaze engulfed the entire building after 1 am. Only broken furniture was saved. About 200 silver, 240 90 in cash burned. Loss around 1600 with 500 insurance. The captain suspects incendiary origin and neighbors offer sympathy.

Steamer Three States Burned at Columbus Wharf
The first class steamer Three States owned by Georgia and Florida Navigation Co. of Columbus was burned at the Columbus wharf about midnight last Wednesday. Estimated value ten thousand dollars, hull saved, no freight aboard. Built two years ago at Apalachicola Florida, company plans to replace the boat and continue river service.

Assassination of Emmett Sims in Thomasville
Emmett Sims of Valdosta a Stanley's business college student was shot and killed last Sunday night near the Thomasville courthouse. Two shots were heard between 10 and 11 o'clock. Sims died on the sidewalk near Dr. Tullis's residence. He was about 24, unmarried, with a reputation for good character. detectives seek the unknown killer.
