Train Collision In Georgia Kills Engineer As Wreck Burns
Powder Springs Georgia March 2 Sea Board Air Line passenger train No 23 traveling from Birmingham to Atlanta collided with a rear end of a disused freight train one mile east of Powder Springs. Engineer Charlie Hutchins of Cedartown was cremated beneath his engine. The colored fireman and baggagemaster were seriously injured while the mail clerk and Pullman porter sustained minor injuries. About fifty passengers were aboard and all were shaken. The wreckage caught fire destroying the entire consist including a Pullman sleeper three day coaches baggage and express cars. A flagman from the freight claimed he could not stop the speeding passenger in time.

Eastern Visitors Injured in Santa Fe Train Wreck Near Colton
A Santa Fe passenger train derailed after running through an open switch one mile north of Colton, killing a Japanese passenger and fatally injuring the fireman while injuring more than thirty others. Senate Okays Denatured Alcohol Bill With Amendment
Washington March 2 The Senate approved the denatured alcohol bill by 66 to 1 with Senator Pettus of Alabama opposing. An earlier committee amendment requiring a government storekeeper during manufacture failed 7 to 16. The measure, returning to the house, allows limited stills for denatured alcohol and includes one senate amendment permitting rum denaturation. Conference reports on several appropriation bills were agreed to. A pension of 50 dollars monthly was granted to the widow of General Joseph R Hawley.
