Tornado Tail Shifts Twists Over Pierre and Fort Pierre

The Associated Press reports a tornado path near Pierre and Fort Pierre South Dakota. The funnel appeared around 3 25 pm on Wednesday and lingered 15 to 20 minutes as it twisted and surged across the area. Spectators watched from the Capitol and workers paused as curving debris paths damaged signs near a gravel pile. The upper funnel was drawn into the cloud while the tail dissipated.

New Brighton Woman Struck and Killed by Car

A New Brighton woman, Marion Phyllis Byrd, 42, was struck and killed Wednesday night along Silver Lake Road near her home. The driver, Lonnie Clyde Shelley, 25, of Cambridge, Minn., was identified by the Ramsey County Coroner. The incident raised Minnesota's 1967 traffic toll to 384, about 32 ahead of last year.

Magnusson Returns to Minnesota Insurance Post
