Beachey Dives Niagara Falls In Daring Flight

Lincoln Beachey, the California aviator, swooped under the upper steel bridge and down the Niagara Gorge to the whirlpool, then landed safely on the Canadian side. About 150000 spectators watched as he skimmed the falls and flew at low levels amid mist and spray.

Storm Forces Senate Adjournment in Waging Thunder

A violent storm with rain hail thunder and 60 mph winds interrupted the Washington Senate forcing adjournment. President Taft was outdoors on the Chevy Chase golf links as the storm peaked after a day of 102 degree heat and caused damage at the Soldiers' Home. Senator Borah spoke amid a deafening din from the hail and rain on the chamber roof.

Priest Dead in Bathtub Before Transatlantic Sail

The body of a man believed to be Rev. Timothy Sullivan of Fort Dodge Iowa was found in an overflowing bathtub at a hotel on Waverly Place New York. Physicians suspect death from apoplexy or heart failure. Police noted the man intended to sail for Ireland.
