In Calumet Michigan June 22 Anton Kowalski slipped while taking a drink underground in No 6 shaft at the Hecla mine and fell 500 feet to death. His body struck Joseph Gonetro who was repairing rollers and secondary fall knocked him 700 feet. Gonetro suffered a fractured skull and scalp wounds. Kowalski, aged 55, leaves a widow and four children.
